Warriors owner reveals bold ‘goal’ for original all-star trio – NBA Analysis Network

Golden State Warriors owner Joe Lacob wants Stephen Curry, Draymond Green and Klay Thompson to retire with the franchise. The Dubs won four NBA championships and played in six Finals in the Curry-Green-Thompson era.
“Certainly we would like to see Steph, Draymond and Klay retire as Warriors,” Lacob said. Madeline Kenney of Mercury News. “That’s my goal, our goal, and I think it’s very likely to happen.”
Curry signed a four-year, $215.4 million contract extension with the Warriors in August 2021. He cannot become an unrestricted free agent until the summer of 2026. Curry has won two regular-season MVPs and one Finals MVP with the Warriors. He is the best shooter of all time.
Thompson is eligible to sign a contract extension this summer as he is in the final year of his contract. The All-Star guard signed a five-year, $189.9 million deal with Golden State in July 2019. Thompson missed two straight seasons with ACL and Achilles tendon injuries.

Green could have left the Warriors this summer since he was an unrestricted free agent. However, the former Defensive Player of the Year re-signed with Golden State on a four-year, $100 million deal. Green was heavily linked to the Los Angeles Lakers as he is close to LeBron James, but the Michigan State product was never going to leave Curry and Thompson.
The Warriors lost to the Lakers in the 2023 Western Conference Semifinals in six games. Golden State traded Jordan Poole to the Washington Wizards for Chris Paul this summer. The franchise also signed Cory Joseph.

The Warriors are expected to start Paul, Curry, Thompson, Andrew Wiggins and Green next season, though Paul could come off the bench and be the Dubs’ new Sixth Man.
Paul hopes to be on the other side of his rivalry with the Warriors. The future Hall of Famer has been “extremely anxious” in his early games with Golden State, according to ESPN’s Kendra Andrews.
