City, the defending 2023 UEFA Champions, dominated the Group Stage of the competition last year with a perfect, 6-0-0 record. They wrapped the stage with a 3-2 win over Crvena zvezda in December, and have not lost a match in either the Premier League or FA Cup since.

City got a massive boost ahead of their match with Copenhagen in the return of its prolific striker, Erling Haaland, who scored twice upon his return to action on Saturday. But City boss Pep Guardiola was critical of Haaland’s body language during the performance, calling on him to relax, and reminding him “to be positive.”

F.C. Copenhagen went 2-2-2 in the Group Stage, culminating in a 1-0 win over Galatasaray. Bayern dominated 5-1-0 in Group A, and the Danish team was the only other team in the group to manage more than a single win. Copenhagen has never previously beaten Manchester City, and this is just their second-ever knockout stage appearance.
