The moment that made Haas team principal Guenther Steiner say: “Yeah, that was fucking great” – Sportskeeda

Haas team principal Guenther Steiner recently revealed how one of the highlights for him in F1 was when his team debuted in the sport and even scored points.
Starting out in F1 as a new team can be quite daunting and difficult as there are several more experienced teams that can easily dominate. However, for his first year, the US team did pretty well.
In an exclusive interview with PlanetF1, Guenther Steiner explained that one of the greatest moments of his career was when Haas launched into the first race of the 2016 F1 season. He said several people were skeptical about whether a new team could keep up with other teams. He said:
“Going out in 2016, being ready for the first race and scoring points. If I look back on it now, at the time, I didn’t realize how cool it was. Because I don’t think a lot of people have done that before. I already did, they were different times but, right now, to go to your first race… When we got there, there were so many naysayers. I mean, I don’t care about naysayers, I want… I do my job, and I’m sure they’re wrong, huh? You know?
Subsequently, Steiner spoke about haas‘ business model and how many people in and around F1 criticized it. However, the Haas team boss now says there are many copying or imitating his business model. However, he felt great looking back on his team’s first race in F1. He concluded:
“So we proved them wrong. All of a sudden we had a lot of friends because it was like ‘you’ll never get to the net with the business model’ because we adopted a new business model, which a lot of people are now copying or taking parts of themselves. Now I think about it, we went out to Australia, on the grid with two cars without mistakes, and we scored points, it’s great.”
Guenther Steiner happy with the current driver line-up at Haas
Guenther Steiner recently spoke about how he would like to secure both kevin magnusen and nico hulkenberg for next year too. As the 2023 F1 season progresses, driver contract announcements will start to arrive. Haas has changed drivers frequently in recent years. Therefore, Steiner wants some kind of stability for now.
“I hope that before the summer holidays, I think we can make the decision. You know, obviously we have to do it and we will confirm our drivers as soon as possible. I mean, like I said before, I mean, it’s nothing new to you guys. I am very happy with our driver line-up now,” she said (via PlanetF1).
Both Magnussen and Hulkenberg are quite experienced and have brought points to the team. Therefore, it is safe to say that both will remain at Haas by 2024. F1 season too.
