NFL: The Green Bay Packers will enter a 2023 season with more questions than answers at this point. The franchise-altering Aaron Rodgers trade ushered in a new era in Green Bay. Jordan Love will be the first quarterback not named Brett Favre or Aaron Rodgers to start the first week for the Packers in 31 years. That, along with numerous veterans leaving in free agency, suddenly made the Green Bay Packers one of the youngest teams in the NFL. A few veteran leaders in key positions could do wonders for this team.
Veteran CB Casey Hayward, a potential candidate for the Green Bay Packers (NFL)
Casey Hayward was selected by the Green Bay Packers in the second round of the 2012 NFL Draft. He spent four seasons with Green Bay and played in 51 games, starting 20 of them. He had nine interceptions, 34 passes defensed and one touchdown as a Packer. He did not re-sign with the team in free agency and signed with the Los Angeles Chargers.
Casey Hayward spent five years as the Charger and established himself as one of the best cornerbacks in the league. He was a second-team All-Pro twice and was selected to two Pro Bowls. In 75 starts for the Chargers, he recorded 14 interceptions, 66 passes defensed and one touchdown. He would spend a year with the Las Vegas Raiders, starting every game, and a year with the Falcons, where he only appeared in 6 games. Hayward, 33, is currently a free agent.
How would Casey Hayward fit in with the current Green Bay Packers secondary?

It’s been eight seasons since the Packers had cornerback Casey Hayward on their roster, and it’s still one of the biggest the front office has done in a long time by letting him walk. Hayward had great success with the Chargers, after which he played for the Raiders and Falcons for one season each.
If Douglas ends up moving to safety alongside Darnell Savage, then it would be nice to have a veteran CB working in the slot. Also, being able to add a mentor to both Jaire Alexander and Eric Stokes would be the cherry on top of this already strong defensive unit.
