Quins’ coach Paul Murunga urged his charges to improve their discipline ahead of the Prinsloo Sevens in Nakuru next month.

The former Kenya Sevens and Under-20 manager has seen his side concede several penalties and yellow cards in the first two games at the Daley and Driftwood Sevens respectively earlier this month.

Murunga cited the case incident in the Driftwood Sevens quarter-final where Jan Remke received a red card for a dangerous tackle against Strathmore in a match they lost 22-0 to be out of contention.

Remke is now serving a five week ban and will be unavailable for the remainder of the series.

“Indiscipline is a problem and it is affecting us. It is very difficult to play six against seven and this is an area that we must improve as a team if we want to win a stage of the series,” Murunga warned.

The former Homeboyz tactician admitted that the team that has several new faces has not cemented itself as a unit despite reaching the semi-finals at the Dala Sevens and the last eight during the Driftwoods Sevens.

“Individually we have some great talent and a good example is Amon Wamalwa, who was named MVP in Kisumu. Collectively though, we still have to play as a team and we have to work on that in the coming weeks and see what we can do.” achieve,” said the tactician.

However, Murunga said his charges can still win a stage of the series with four tournaments remaining.

“We have reached the semifinals and quarterfinals, and the only way to move up is to give it your all and win a tournament. I am confident that my wards will comply, ”she noted.

Elsewhere, the Rift Valley Lakers clinched the inaugural Futures Cup by beating the Ugandan Kampala Giants 10-5 at St Christophers International School. Michael Okidia scored a double for the Lakers team and the visitors scored an unconverted test.
