MLB Rumours: Analyst Predicts Shohei Ohtani Will Be In The Playoffs On… – FanSided

FOX Sports analyst Eric Karros believes the Los Angeles Angels will trade superstar Shohei Ohtani, and he will play for this National League West team.

Entering the 2023 season, the MLB world speculated if the angels of los angeles would consider trading superstar shohei ohtani. The Angels then went on a great run early on, putting them in contention for the postseason. But since Mike Trout suffered a hamate fracture last month.

Now, with August 1 MLB Increasingly closer to the trade deadline, the Angels have indicated they are willing to listen to offers for Ohtani. Whether they trade him is still a serious question.

That brings us to the predictions. With it being a mere matter of days until the trade deadline of August 1, fans and members of the media are giving their opinions on where Ohtani could be traded.

On July 15, former Los Angeles Dodgers first baseman and FOX Sports analyst Eric Karros was asked during a network appearance if Ohtani will play in the postseason. Karros said he did, but not as a member of the Angels. Instead, Karros predicts that Ohtani will be traded to San Francisco Giants.

MLB Analyst Former Dodgers First Baseman Eric Karros Predicts Giants Trade For Shohei Ohtani

“That makes all the sense in the world. They have the means to do it, then they sign him for a couple of months to try to woo him and sign him for free agency,” Karros said. “Makes total sense, and don’t you think the Angels wouldn’t want to trade him to San Francisco to upset the Dodgers? Come on. This is drama.”

If this came to fruition, what an achievement for the Giants. This is a Giants organization that missed out on signing many big-name free agents over the years. From Bryce Harper to Aaron Judge to Carlos Correa (contract canceled due to injury). Imagine if they could land the AL MVP favorite in the middle of this season.

The Giants are in prime position to compete for a postseason spot. They are 53-41 on the year as of July 18, just 1.5 games behind the Dodgers for first place in the NL West, and one game ahead of the Arizona Diamondbacks. If the Giants want to get ahead of their rivals, making a big splash at the trade deadline may be the way to go.

But, this all hinges on Angels owner Arte Moreno giving the go-ahead to trade Ohtani. It’s a tough position to be in, as Moreno would be known as the owner who traded in a generational superstar. But, Ohtani is set to become a free agent this winter, and he’ll undoubtedly have plenty of suitors. Therefore, it would be better to get something in return instead of letting him walk for nothing.

Los Angeles, understandably, looking for a big return for Ohtaniconsidering how well he’s played as a pitcher and designated hitter.

Through 93 games, Ohtani posted a .306 batting average, .391 on-base percentage, .677 slugging percentage, 35 home runs, 68 runs scored, 75 RBI, and 110 hits. As a starting pitcher, Ohtani posted a 3.50 ERA, 1.120 WHIP, 139 strikeouts and 46 walks in 105.1 innings pitched (18 starts).

Will Ohtani be traded? We’ll have a better idea as we get closer to the August 1 deadline.
