Mercedes taunts Russell as a hilarious radio message lurks… – GPFans


Mercedes they have jokingly mocked george russell in a social media post, where the team mocked the 25-year-old for his radio message during the Spanish Grand Prix, where he mistook the sweat inside his helmet for rain on the track.

Mercedes enjoyed its best grand prix result so far this season in Barcelona last month, when Russell followed Hamilton across the line to claim third place in a double podium finish for the Silver Arrows.

Despite the entire team concentrating on achieving the best possible result during the race, a strange radio call from Russell sparked a brief moment of hilarity.

After going through turn 5, the King’s Lynn man reported patches of rain on the circuit. Moments later, however, Russell would return to his race engineer to clarify that it was simply the sweat dripping from the inside of his helmet that he had mistaken for rain.

Seeing the funny side of things, Russell took to a social media video to set the record straight. Walking into the paddock, the Mercedes driver raised his palm to the sky and said: “Is it raining? Don’t believe it. Just sweat.”

And now the team has taken the joke a step further, after superimposing the words ‘race week’ over Russell’s hand, along with the caption: “What’s the forecast @GeorgeRussell63?”

Meanwhile, Mercedes trail Red Bull by 208 points as the Silver Arrows look to defend their 22-point lead over third-place Aston Martin.
