Below is the signing status of the first 39 picks in the 2023 MLB Draft, spanning Round 1, prospect promotion incentive pick, and competitive balancing Round A. Additionally, there are links to the full Draft signing and each team’s bonus tracker.

Each club has until 5 pm ET on Tuesday, July 25 to come to an agreement with their Draft picks. If a player has exhausted his collegiate eligibility, he may sign any time up to one week before the next year’s Draft.

The clubs have not confirmed the bonuses reported below unless otherwise stated.

7. Reds: Rhett Lowder, RHP, Wake Forest
Pick Value: $6,275,200
Signing Bonus: $5,700,000

Lowder signed for almost $600,000 below the value of his slot on July 14. He just finished his junior year at Wake Forest, where he set single-season records for wins (15) and strikeouts (143). His 15 wins were the most in Division I, while his 143 strikeouts were the fourth most. Lowder also had a 1.83 ERA and a 6.0 strikeout-to-walk ratio (143 K, 24 BB) in 120 1/3 innings.

8. Royals: Blake Mitchell, C, Sinton High School (TX)
Selection Value: $5,980,100
Signing Bonus:
$4,900,000
Considered the best prep catcher in the Draft class by a wide margin, Mitchell is a left-handed hitter with powerful and hitting tools. He’s also a nimble defender and his strong throwing arm has generated a heat of 97 mph on the mound.

13. Cubs: Matt Shaw, SS, Maryland
Pick Value: $4,848,500
Signing Bonus: $4,848,500

The Cubs signed Shaw with his space value, adding a dynamic shortstop with increased power and plate discipline potential. The Big Ten Player of the Year, Shaw hit .341/.445/.697 with 24 home runs, 69 RBIs, 18 steals and more walks (43) than strikeouts (42) in 62 games as a junior. He also led Bourne to the Cape Cod League title after hitting .360/.432/.574 in 36 games.

21. Cardinals: Chase Davis, OF, Arizona
Selection Value $3,618,200
Signing Bonus: $3,618,200

The outfitted outfielder, who hit 21 home runs while hitting .362 as a junior in Arizona last season, formally introduced his big left-handed power to St. Louis when he took batting practice July 15 at Busch Stadium, smashing a handful of long balls in the empty seats between games in the doubleheader split between the Cardinals and Nationals.

22. Mariners: Colt Emerson, SS, John Glenn HS (OH)
Pick Value: $3,496,600
Signing Bonus: $3,800,000

As expected, the Mariners crossed the line to bring the high school bat, who was committed to Auburn University, as they did last year when they drafted Cole Young, another left-handed shortstop. An average running back with solid arm strength, Emerson is a consistent defender at shortstop but will likely move to a different position in professional baseball.

24. Braves: Hurston Waldrep, RHP, Florida
Pick Value: $3,270,500
Signing Bonus: $2,997,500

As reported by MLB Pipeline’s Jim Callis on Thursday, the Braves struck fast by reaching an agreement with their top two picks just four days after making them the Day 1 picks. Atlanta settled with Waldrep for $273,000 in the slot, and he was able to use those savings in the second round on Drue Hackenburg, who agreed to terms on a $628,200 slot bonus.

26. Yankees: George Lombard Jr., SS, Gulliver Prep (FL)
Selection Value $3,065,000
Signing Bonus: $3,300,000

Lombard Jr. was at George M. Steinbrenner Field on July 17, putting pen and paper to his first professional contract, and the Yankees photos posted on social media showing Lombard Jr. on the field and on the bench. The infielder is the son of former major leaguer and current Tigers bench coach George Lombard.

28. Astros: Brice Matthews, SS, Nebraska

Signing Bonus: $2,478,200

Matthews hit .359/.481/.723 with 20 home runs and 20 stolen bases in 54 games in a breakout year at Nebraska, putting up impressive exit velocities along the way. The shortstop features excellent athleticism: He was an all-state quarterback at Texas as a prepster.

30. Sailors: Tai Peete, SS, Trinity Christian School (GA)
Pick Value: $2,732,500
Signing Bonus: $2,500,000

Seattle’s front office has locked up all but second-round pick Jonny Farmelo and 20th-round pick Will Watson, a source told MLB.com’s Daniel Kramer. Peete agreed to a deal that is $232,500 below slot value, while first-rounder Colt Emerson got more than $300,000 more than pick value from him.

32. Mets: Colin Houck, SS, Parkview HS (GA)
Selection Value: $2,607,500
Signing Bonus: $2,750,000
The Mets announced Friday that they have signed Houck and second-round pick Brandon Sproat (56th overall), along with six other players selected in this year’s Draft. Houck and Sproat will begin their professional careers in the Florida Complex League in Port St. Lucie, Florida.
