California Arts Groups Advocate for Diversity and Opportunities in Workforce During Arts Month

April is Arts Month in California, and arts groups across the state are advocating for increased diversity and opportunities in the arts workforce. Many organizations are focusing on the need for greater representation of people of color, individuals with disabilities, and members of other underrepresented communities in leadership positions in the arts. They are also pushing for initiatives to provide greater access to arts education and job opportunities for people from diverse backgrounds. In addition to these efforts, many groups are offering free or low-cost arts events throughout the month to celebrate and showcase the diversity of California’s arts scene.
