Continue to implement the recommendations of the Alberta Provincial EMS Advisory Committee and the PricewaterhouseCoopers EMS Dispatch Review to ensure that EMS dispatch is conducted in a manner that provides the highest levels of service to Albertans at every part of the province, with special consideration to address local issues. resources, challenges and concerns.
Support primary care as the foundation of our health care system by evaluating alternative models of care and leveraging all health care professionals. This includes continuing the work of the Alberta Primary Health Care System Modernization initiative, evaluating alternative compensation models for family physicians and nurse practitioners, improving chronic disease management, and increasing the number of Albertans linked to a medical home.
Provide better care for older people by implementing the recommendations of the Facility-Based Continuum of Care Review and the report Advancing Hospice and End-of-Life Care in Alberta. This includes ongoing work to add continuing care spaces and to help older people stay in their homes longer with additional support and appropriate home care.
Develop a series of health care reforms that enhance local decision-making authority, improve health care services for all Albertans, and create a more collaborative work environment for our health care workers by incentivizing collaboration regional innovation and increase our ability to attract and retain the healthcare workers we need.
Work to address rural health challenges, such as access to health professionals.
Work with municipalities, post-secondary institutions, physicians and allied health providers to identify strategies to attract and retain health workers in rural Alberta.
Collaborate with the Minister of Technology and Innovation to conduct an independent review of the effectiveness of information technology systems used across the Alberta healthcare system and provide recommendations on how to strengthen Alberta’s healthcare system through the use of the technology.
Work with the Minister for Advanced Education, who is the lead, to develop simplified automated credentials for frontline healthcare workers, doctors, nurses and paramedics.
Address the challenges of healthcare personnel, particularly in rural areas, by:

Work closely with the Minister for Mental Health and Addiction, who is the lead, to ensure that mental health and addiction recovery and increasing recovery capital for Albertans is a guiding policy in modernizing the Alberta primary health care system.
Work with the Minister of Technology and Innovation, who is in charge, to explore the feasibility of creating an Alberta Health Spending Account to support better health outcomes for Albertans.
Work with the Attorney General, who is the lead, to assess proposed amendments to the federal medical aid in dying legislation that would include people with mental health conditions and recommend regulation of the profession in Alberta in relation to this legislation proposal.
Design a Ministry of Health-specific job attraction strategy that raises awareness among Alberta youth (ages 16-24) and career-changing adults about the skilled trades and professions available in each economic sector, including pathways to education, learning and training.
